Are You Embracing the Aging Process?
While aging is something everyone goes through and a normal part of life, that doesn’t mean that you can’t take steps to limit some of aging’s effects. Let’s look at some ways you can help to put off the aging process.
First, you want to make sure that you are getting enough exercisethroughout the week. While most medical professionals will recommend getting around 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week, you just want to make sure you are exercising as often as you can.
Even if you just talk a walk in the morning to start off your day or a run after dinner to destress from the day, you want to make sure you are making exercise a priority to help lower your risk of many chronic medical conditions, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes and certain types of cancer.
Second, you also want to make sure you’re eating a well-balanced diet. From fruits and vegetables that can help lower your cholesterol levels to calcium-rich foods that can help keep bones healthy and strong, you want to make sure you are fueling your body with the right nutrients.
Third, make sure you’re getting plenty of quality sleep each night. While our sleep needs change as we get older, you should still aim for at least seven hours of good sleep. If you’re struggling with falling asleep or staying asleep, talk with your doctor about options that could help.
