Ontario looks at quality control after Trillium radiology crisis

Ontarios health minister says she wants tougher quality control measures for diagnostic imaging in the wake of the controversy over misread scans at Trillium Health. Trillium Health last week sent letters to about 3,500 patients, alerting them that their CT scans and mammograms were being reviewed because it has been discovered that the original radiologist who read them has been making errors.

Queensway Carleton Hospital designated for commitment to elder care

Queensway Carleton Hospital has received designation in an international program aimed at excelling in senior care. It is the only Ontario hospital outside the Toronto area to receive the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) designation. NICHE is a nurse-driven program based at the NYU College of Nursing that offers evidence-based resources to help hospitals track and improve elder care. The designation is held by almost 450 hospitals and health care facilities in North America.
