Now that the holidays are over, the decorations can be put away, family and friends have gone home, and life is beginning to go back to normal. After all the excitement and stress, it’s natural to want to hole up at home and get some peace and quiet.

It’s ok to give yourself some down time, but don’t let it become routine, especially now, in the middle of the winter. The short days, monochrome views outside, and freezing weather all work against us this time of year. However, excluding yourself from social activities and hobbies you usually love can cause many ill effects.

Seasonal despression is common this time of year. Poor mental health can increase your risk of heart disease, alzheimer’s and dementia, and other health problems. Staying active, being social, and finding things you enjoy can all help to beat the blues.

Not sure what to do or where to go? There are many options nearby to take advantage of. Here are a few ideas over the next week in the Etobicoke area, including classes, dancing, and Etobicoke events.
