When Is the Right Time to Consider Home Health Care Support?
Qualicare understands it can be difficult to decipher when it’s time to consider home health care for a loved one. That’s why we’d like to share some signs that home health care support may be necessary.
Warning Signs to Watch for in Your Loved One
Independence is extremely important—for everyone. However, there comes a time in every person’s life when help is needed in order to tackle daily activities.
When making visits to see a loved one, pay attention to these top three key elements.
Is your loved one keeping up with his or her finances? Falling for money scams he or she wouldn’t have succumbed to in the past or spending more money than usual can be signs that he or she is experiencing cognitive changes. Unpaid bills and frequent errors in bookkeeping can also be signs that your loved one’s cognitive skills are not as sharp as they once were.
When you walk through the door, is the house you once visited now cluttered and unkept? Dishes in the sink, clothes everywhere and trash piling up? If the home was normally a tidy one and it is now out of sorts, it could be time to discuss home health.
Personal grooming changes can also signal that something is wrong. Poor hygiene or even repeatedly wearing the same clothes can point to a health issue. This is especially true if your loved one isn’t feeling up to the normal tasks he or she could—at one time—easily handle, like combing his or her hair or brushing his or her teeth.
At Qualicare, we understand how important it is to make your loved ones feel safe and supported. If, at any time, you see these warning signs when visiting, call us to speak to our care coordinator. We’ll be more than happy to offer some advice.
