Be Kind to Your Skin
While trying to put our best face forward as we age, you may be actually speeding up the appearance of aging on your skin. Let’s look at some ways you might be hitting the fast-forward button on aging.
First, what is your sleep position? Do you sleep on your side, on your back or on your belly?
If you said stomach, then you may have something to worry about when it comes to the aging process. Research shows that sleeping on your face can cause you to lose collagen in your face faster and increase your risk of your face sagging.
Second, you need to make sure that you wash your face every day. When we get busy, we can easily forget to wash our face and take off our makeup before bed. Or we’re so tired that we simply fall into bed without taking that step.
However, when we do so, we’re not washing the day’s dirt, germs and sweat from our face. Leaving that residue on the face while sleeping can cause it to burrow into the pores. Therefore, make sure to always wash your face every day no matter what.
Finally, you also want to make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. While drinking water is important to our overall health, it can also help you to keep your skin hydrated.
This is especially important, since dehydration can cause dry skin, black circles under your eyes and wrinkly skin. All things we could live without!
