How to Keep Your Loved One Safe in the Summer Heat

The team at Qualicare understands how much you want your loved one to enjoy the great outdoors this summer and get a breath of fresh air. It might even be good for him or her.

However, there are some precautions you should take when taking your loved one outside in the summer sun. Check out the following tips to learn how to keep your loved one safe in the heat this summer.

Ways to Be Safe in Sun

Before heading outdoors, here are some things to consider.

First, make sure you and your loved one are wearing the proper clothing. Avoid wearing dark colors while outdoors because darker colors tend to hold in heat, which can make you feel hotter faster. Instead, have wear lighter-colored, more breathable fabrics so that you’re able to withstand the heat longer, as well as feel some kind of a breeze through the fabric and feel more cool while outside.

Second, you want to make sure you bring enough cool water with you, or at least have access to water throughout the day while outside. It is extremely important to keep your loved one hydrated while out in the hot sun. Don’t wait until you feel thirst before drinking—you may already be dehydrated by the time you feel thirsty.

Finally, try to avoid the hottest hours of the day, which typically occur between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you want to venture out with your loved one, try doing so either early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when the heat has cooled down some. This might also help your loved one to enjoy the adventure outdoors more, as well, by not feeling overwhelmingly hot during the day.
